Bee Brave! is a European collaborative project that follows the journey of a small but courageous bee.

Faced with dangers like storms, pollution, and habitat loss, the little bee must find her way back to the hive. She cannot do it alone — students from different countries come together to help her.

Through drawing, storytelling, poetry, games, and music, children raise awareness about the importance of bees and their role in our environment.

Working in international teams, pupils not only protect their brave bee — they also learn to cooperate, imagine, and act for nature.

Bee Brave! is a story about resilience, friendship, and the power of even the smallest creatures to inspire big changes.

"Bee Brave!" is a collaborative eTwinning project for primary school pupils, 7-12 years old, centered around a brave little bee who must overcome challenges caused by pollution, habitat loss, and natural dangers on her journey back to the hive. Along the way, she learns the importance of friendship, biodiversity, and working together to protect the planet.

Through storytelling, drawings, games, and creative digital tools, students will work in international teams to co-create the bee’s adventure. The project integrates environmental education, creativity, and digital and language skills in a joyful and meaningful way.

Aims:

-Raise awareness about the importance of bees and the protection of the environment.

-Develop creativity through storytelling, illustration, and crafts.

- Improve language and communication skills in an international setting.

-Learn to use digital tools safely and creatively.

-Foster collaboration and teamwork across countries.

CALENDAR

September – October:

-Pupils and teachers introduce themselves.

-Schools share short presentations about their environment and local biodiversity.

-Pupils reflect on the importance of bees in nature.

-Collaborative creation and voting of the project logo.

-eSafety activities and rules for working together online.

November:

- Pupils describe and illustrate a brave bee character in national teams.

– vote to choose one main bee hero for the adventure.

December – March:

International groups are created, each with a different mission:

▪Writers: Create episodes of the adventure story (Bee faces dangers and discovers values like courage, cooperation, responsibility…).

▪Illustrators: Create images for each story episode (or comics)

▪Musicians: Invent short soundscapes (buzzing, rain, danger, calm…) or a musical theme for the Bee.

▪Engineers: Design bee-friendly spaces (gardens, hives, cities…) using recycled or digital materials.

▪Scientists: Create short videos or posters to explain problems bees face (pollution, pesticides, climate change…).

▪Journalists: Report on each month’s progress

All stories and contributions are collected in one tool.

April – May:

Pupils collaborate to create a  "Goose Game":

  - Each partner school designs several game squares, with challenges based on the story.

  - Obstacles, questions, and values are included to recap the bee’s journey.

- Game is shared digitally and/or printed for classroom use.

Pedagogical approach:

The project promotes cross-curricular learning (science, art, languages, digital competence, citizenship) and active learning strategies such as role-playing, creative storytelling, cooperative tasks, and reflection.

Dear partners, we will create a collaborative logo.
 1) Draw a single  imagine that is related to the project theme (a bee, a hive, a flower...) symbolizing that the group is working on a project about the journey of a bee to the hive.
Students can draw or they can create an image with AI.
  2) Take a photo of the figure.
  3) Remove the background of the photo.
Use https://www.remove.bg/
4) Upload the image to a shared Canva poster, which will be used as the project logo.

Students create the main character of the story: a little bee.

https://school-education.ec.europa.eu/en/etwinning/projects/bee-brave/twinspace/pages/brave-bee

1. Each school describes its bee character and illustrates the description of another school.

Each school writes a short physical description of the bee on one slide of the shared presentation (on the left side of the slide) and creates an illustration of a partner school’s description (on the right side of the slide, next to the partner’s text).

Schools are matched by writing the teacher’s name, school, and country on their slides.

The description

The text should be simple but expressive, giving enough detail for another team to imagine the bee correctly.

For example: colour of the body and stripes, size, expression (happy/sad/brave), type of wings, maybe a special feature (a hat, a flower, a backpack, etc.).

Avoid too many details, as the partner school will use the description to generate the image with an AI tool.

Students can discuss and decide together what their bee looks like — this can be done as a whole-class brainstorming activity.

They should try to agree on the main features and describe them clearly.

About the picture: students may need to experiment several times with the AI app to get a satisfying image.

Dear partners,

we will work in five international thematic teams, each focusing on a specific mission.

https://school-education.ec.europa.eu/en/etwinning/projects/bee-brave/twinspace/pages/brave-bee-mission

Each Thematic Team has 3 schools.

Together, we will continue the Bee’s adventure — discovering the meaning of bravery, cooperation, and respect for nature.

We will create an inspiring story about courage and friendship.

1. Writers

Mission: Create the adventure story of Bee
Each school writes one part of the story, showing how Bee faces dangers, makes new friends, and learns important values such as courage, cooperation, and responsibility.

2. Illustrators

Mission: Bring Bee’s adventures to life
Children draw or create digital illustrations for the story episodes or make short comics showing the most exciting moments.

3. Musicians

Mission: Give sound to the story
Pupils invent short soundscapes using voice, body percussion, instruments, or objects.

For example: buzzing, rain, danger, calm, flight.

4. Engineers

Mission: Create bee-friendly spaces
Children design or build safe and welcoming places for bees, such as gardens, hives, or green cities.
They can use recycled materials, natural elements, or digital tools (like Canva or others).
The aim is to show how we can protect and support bees in our daily lives.

5. Scientists

Mission: Investigate and explain
Pupils become young researchers and create short videos or posters explaining the main dangers bees face: pollution, pesticides, habitat loss, and climate change.
They also suggest ideas to help bees survive and thrive.

DEADLINES: Writers finish the story by the end of February.

So Illustrators can draw the episodes.

For Musicians, Engineers and Scientists the deadline is March 31st.

THEMATIC TEAMS TABLE

At the end of five Missions, all contributions — stories, illustrations, sounds, creations, and reports — will be collected in a collaborative Canva presentation.

Dear partners,

this  is the Facebook group of the project.

You are invited to join it:

 https://www.facebook.com/groups/3598842176923631/

It is a public group.

Therefore we cannot upload students' faces.

We will share the main outcomes of the project ONLY at the end of the project.

So we will not upload our activities while we are doing them, but at the end of the project.
