Στα Ιταλικά η λέξη 'KAΡΝΑΒΑΛΙ' = ''Carne'' ''vale'' σημαίνει ''τέλος στο κρέας''

Αυτές τις ημέρες λοιπόν προσπαθούμε να φάμε ,να πιούμε και να διασκεδάσουμε οσο γινεται περισσότερο αφού απο την ΚΑΘΑΡΗ ΔΕΥΤΕΡΑ αρχίζει η νηστεία των 40 ημερών. Η νηστεία, μας προετοιμάζει για το Πάσχα.

 Έτσι, την  ΤΣΙΚΝΟΠΕΜΠΤΗ παντού στην Ελλάδα οι άνθρωποι  διασκεδάζουν τρώγοντας,πίνοντας και χορεύοντας. Στις αυλές των σπιτιών,στις πλατείες και στα σχολεία την  ημέρα αυτή όλοι χορεύουν το ΓΑ'Ι'ΤΑΝΑΚΙ.Είναι  ένα χορευτικό παιχνίδι όπου γύρω απο ένα κοντάρι,οι χορευτές πλέκουν χρωματιστές κορδέλες με την συνοδεία παραδοσιακής μουσικής.Ο επικεφαλής με την σφυρίχτρα δίνει το παράγγελμα για το πλέξιμο αλλά και για το ξετύλιγμα.

 All these days we try to eat ,drink and do funny things as much as we can because in a few days,beginning on 'PURE MONDAY'' .......Fasting =Νηστεία....is in order!!! Thousands of christians, all around the world, are preparing spiritually and physically through  Fasting to be ready to celebrate  EASTER.

During ΤΣΙΚΝΟΠΕΜΠΗ  people in Greece have great fun by eating,drinking and dancing.......Dancing in the gardens,in parks, in schools....a traditional dance  called  ΓΑ'Ι'ΤΑΝΑΚΙ.......GA'I'TANAKI.....

It is more like a dancing game, where dancers  knit colored  long ribbons  around a wooden pole while dancing  traditional Greek  songs.There is a lead dancer  who gives the signal for the knitting and the unknitting!!!
